MT and Norton

I've found a conflict between Movable Type and my Norton Firewall. When I try to make a post to my Blog, it just hangs. If I disable my firewall, it posts normally.

I've looked at MT's support forum and found another user with the same problem, but no solution. It's a pain.

Ted,
Dont mean to restate the obvious (or maybe not) but I know in some firewalls there is a way to open ports. I dont know where this option lives in Norton, but i am sure if you dig around in there you can figure out how to open up the necessary ports needed to post your blog. I would check ouy Nortons knowledge base and search under Norton Firewall "opening ports". It should give you a list of the ports and their description. Norton Firwall may tell you the port that it is blocking as well. In that case you can just configure to allow it to use internet resources. Hope this helps.

Norton usually tells me when a program is attempting to access a port and I can make the choice to allow or not. In this case, I don't get any response from Norton. I just figured out Norton was the problem by temporarily inactivating it and MT posted fine. So far, the Symantec knowledge base has come up zero.

But thank you for the input.
