Vorlon Whispers Upgraded

I just had Vorlon Whispers updated to Movable Type 3.14. You, dear reader, should see no difference. The only difference you’ll see is the version number on the bottom right.

Chad Everett of Everitz Consulting did the upgrade for me. He did it quickly and I lost access to the blog for a little over an hour. It’s not as if I’m in the blog all the time anyway.

If you’re considering setting up a Movable Type Weblog or upgrading an existing one, I recommend you contact Chad. I think you’ll like the work he does.

UPDATE: It turns out there was one glitch. But I contacted Chad and he quickly fixed it. Well done!

UPDATE II: It took me a few minutes to realize what the Movable Type people are doing with their version numbers. You'll see the version is 3.14159. I turns out this is the numerical equivalent of the mathematical value of PI. Someone at MT has a sense of humor.

Chad did a great job for me also. Very quick and painless. I recommend him highly. Did he install any special add-ins?

I really like the fact that I now receive email notifications before postings are viewable. This has ended my spam problem. I still get a few spam postings each week, but I go in and delete the message and it never appears. This is much better than my previous way of doing it.

Before I'd have to go in and delete each message after it was posted. Then I'd ban the IP address, which isn't actually a good thing to do.

Also, there are some people (like Ted), that I've approved for posting. I get a message that saying that Ted has made a posting, but I don't have to do anything to approve it.

I use BlackList to keep the spammers at bay. So far, it has worked pretty. It's a little like antivirus software. Occasionally I get hit, but it only takes a few minutes to clean them up. I also use the CloseComments plugin to close all posts to comments that don't appear on my blog home page.
