Another Fitness Gadget

In my search for the ultimate fitness machine, I came across something call the Bullworker. I don’t have any clue if it is any good or not. While the price is attractive, it’s hard to believe that something so small could be any good. I found no data on epinions.

I do see one advantage to it, it is so easily portable one could take it with them anywhere and not miss their workouts.

When I see the body builders, however, they seem to all be using free weights.

I've seen this before. Something like this has been out for years. It basically works like a shock absorber with you pushing in on both ends. Probably good for upper body to a certain extent.

I used to own one 20 years ago. It worked OK but like Reb said it really only works the upper body. I never looked like the guy in the picture even though I used it faithfully for a couple of years. You'll never work up a sweat using one. I abandoned it when I got free access to the Nautilus equipment at Calvin which is far superior to any equipment that I have ever used.

About 15 years ago, I bought a weight lifting book entitled "massive muscles in 10 weeks". It combined an intense weight lifting program with a diet which changed every week. I was optimistic but soon discovered that I could not eat as much food as required. This led me to believe that my body was not burning the required calories for "massive muscles". Again, I never looked like the guys in the pictures but it did tone up my muscles. The most tortureous exercise was the one minute leg lift. With this exercise, you hang from a chin-up bar and slowly raise you legs from a vertical position to a vertical position over a 30 second time frame. Then you slowly lower you legs from a vertical position to a vertical position over a 30 second period. The good news with this exercise is that you only had to do one a day. :-)
