Computer Update

As I stated my computer is running, but I don’t dare trying to reboot it. I have spoken to my computer guy and Monday, I will take it to him for upgrade. I’m doing to have him install a backup program that will allow me to restore the complete hard drive and will be like I never had a problem. He is also going to examine it and if the hard drive is flaky, replace it. Why wait for it to fail?

I asked if I could upgrade to a RAID 1 configuration and he said I’d have to re-install everything. OK so I’m not going to do that.

As long as I don’t have to reboot over the weekend, I should be good to go.

Good luck with the computer. It is a real hassle when things go wrong. Backup! Backup! Backup! (which you always do!)

It turns out not all backups are equal. The Windows backup ONLY does your data.

I have downloaded something called Acronis True Image. I'll the computer guys install it as it makes you reboot your computer and I'm not sure mine will reboot. If it doesn't they can take corrective action.

With the Acronis software, they make a bootable CD and allows you to completely restore you hard drive back to just as it was before the failure. It sounds like the next best think to a RAID 1 configuration.
