Never a dull moment in the Vorlon neighborhood. I heard someone outside my sunporch window call for someone to help her. I look out the window and there was a lady and a bunch of neighborhood children. I went out the door and there was a van with the door open right in front of my walkway. There was no one in it. I looked around the corner and saw the lady going down the street across the way. She was still calling for someone to help her and she was surrounded by the neighbors across the way and the neighborhood children. I started to return to my house when the police arrived in back of the van. They asked if it were mine. I said “No.” and told them the lady was calling for help and went around the corner. I pointed where she went. Two more police cars pulled up. One on my street and one around the corner.

I saw a young man from down the street walk over and look and then one of the children ran over to him so I called to him and asked what was going on. He said the lady told the police her husband had a hammer and said he was going to kill her. Just then, the couple walked arm in arm back to their car. The young man and I looked at each other in wonder and he indicated he couldn’t believe it. We both kind of laughed and went into our houses.

I hope the lady is all right and the man didn’t smooth things over for the police. They were an older couple. One never knows.

Hi Karol,

That would be scary stuff to hear someone calling for help, but, not knowing if it was a ruse to get you to come out. I'm very thankful you didn't go out until the police had arrived. You know when you said they were an older couple, I couldn't help but think of an older man in our area that had Alzheimer's. His wife had cared for him for quite some time and one day he also took a hammer and beat her so badly that she has been in a nursing home ever since. So, just maybe that is what is wrong with that man. His wife better be VERY careful.

And, let me just say again how thankful I am that you didn't go out. It does seem like there is always something going on that makes us so much more aware than we used to have to be. Things aren't getting better in this world - unfortunately, they are getting worse. And, in my opinion, until our government leaders begin to ask our Heavenly Father for guidance, we will continue to spiral downward. Perhaps that sounds radical, but, I truly believe this is the only way our world is going to change. God just isn't going to accept all the horror and evil that is happening. So, I guess we better get our ducks in a row and hope that all the kooks out there start straightening up quickly. Do you think I sound like one of those "strange" people that is always predicting the end of the world? I suppose I do now that I read back through my note. Well, anyway, I said it and I'm not deleting it.

Hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend. Ruth
