I watered all the plants inside and out before getting ready for our trip back to Vineland. I tried a different route. I took 71 to 13 instead of 72. That worked out OK. It was more direct. Then I went straight in Woodstown and bore left when it feels certain that one should bear right. I was on the correct road that I wanted but a truck pulling a trailer was going 35 in a 50 mile zone. The traffic was backed up. I kept hoping he would turn off but I turned off instead. I went on route 611 and became the back road through Elmer.

When I got home, I was going to walk Danny but I saw the pit bull across the street was out. He was on a leash but it was growling and barking at me. I waited until it went in.

I took some pictures of my prickly pear cactus. It is in full bloom. I guess I'll take some of that to MD. There are a few lilies. I don't know if I'll take them or not. There are a lot of gladiolas left. I gave a lot away and I took a lot to MD and there are still a lot more. I have a lot pf empty spaces in my flower beds down there so I'll take as much as I can.

I wasn't sure whether I would come back to Vineland today or tomorrow. Then I heard on the radio that it was election day in NJ so I thought I'd better to and vote. Most of the candidates were running unopposed except for the incumbent, LoBiono. Three Republicans were running and no Democrat was in the first slot. There were some in slot two and three. Maybe it was because the first slot is for the incumbent and that was the Republican. There were no voters there except for me. It was about 3:00. I don't know if there was a light turnout or if it was the time of day that I went.

When I began reading Vorlon Whispers, I tried looking up exactly what that meant. I did find some info on the explanation of Vorlons, but, I was still puzzled by it. So, I was very happy that you shared the info about the Vorlons and they talk in whispers. Now, I finally understand why he called his blog Vorlon Whispers. That was my lesson for today.

If I was a flower person, I could learn so much from you, but, I'm not able to plant and care for flowers anymore. I really love seeing them though, and yours are always so lovely. I would say that the best lessons a person could learn from you Karol is your perseverance and accomplishments after Ted's death. You have amazed me so. You had to begin to move forward when I knew you were so terribly sad at the loss of your husband and best friend. Many women who are faced with your situation are not able to function. You are a strong and amazing woman and you give me courage everyday.

We had lots and lots of rain the other evening. In fact, there was a tornado in Battle Creek (which is where I live). It seemed to follow a straight line so we assumed it wasn't a tornado. When the weather experts came and checked out the damage, they are saying it was a tornado. It uprooted huge beautiful trees and throughtout a large area. It was simply amazing to look at what it did. It also took the entire top section of a Methodist church off, rafters, etc. The section was where the Pastor's office is and the nursery. So, it was devastating to the pastor because of his computers and so many records, etc. that were either gone with the wind or so water-soaked they are ruined and the nursery is not available for the little ones. In fact, Pastor Gysel had to be taken to the hospital when he saw what had happened to his church. He didn't have to stay long because they believe it was his blood pressure that became so erratic after seeing the ruins. The church has a large pagoda in the side yard, and he is saying that is where their Sunday service will be held. With all the awful damage that was done, we haven't heard of any injuries and how thankful we all are for that. But, there is plenty of damage. I wish we could have shared some of the rain with you. Love, Ruth

Ruth,

I am so sorry to hear about the damage to the church. I am thankful the children were not in it when it happened and that no one was hurt in the storm.
