Michigan Barn #38

I did some laundry this morning and hung it out on the line. It was bright and sunny at the time. I went to Pastor Mark's Bible study and by the time I got back, it had clouded over. It got very dark by 4pm but it didn't rain. It also got colder. I went to dinner at Cheryl and Ed's. Erin came down with a cold and sore throat so stayed home. She didn't want to take the cold germs to Cheryl, Ed, and the baby. Ed made a delicious dinner of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and broccoli. I stooped down to talk to baby Ethan and Big Bad Bell, their Golden Retriever bumped into me and knocked me over. She jumped on top of me and grabbed the big gingle bell on my necklace. She likes to take things and hide them. She liked the shiny bell but it was attached to my neck. I was laughing so hard I couldn't move or get her off me. Cheryl and Ed were in the kitchen so it took a while for them to get Bell off me.

Hi Karol, I'm glad Big Bad Bell didn't hurt you. The whole incident probably frightened you just a bit because you never know what a dog might do even though they have always been mild tempered. Maybe they play with him that way. Better not wear that necklace when you visit them anymore.

We had a rather frightening incident early last Mon. morning (about 3 a.m.) David has COPD and has been able to manage it fairly well. He began struggling to breathe. I called an ambulance immediately and I could see by his coloring he was losing ground quickly. And, there was nothing I could do to help him. I felt so scared and helpless. The ambulance arrived very quickly and they began giving him oxygen and he began getting some relief. He was transported to the hospital, which is surely where he needed to be. He's doing better now and may get to come home tomorrow. We will need to have some oxygen at home in case this should happen again. It came on so fast, we weren't prepared. I have missed him terribly and will be so thankful to have him here. I was able to visit him a few times, but, we had a terrible snowstorm and it wasn't safe for me to get out. How quickly our lives can change at times.

I'm glad you have a smaller dog and the only thing he would do to you was smother you with kisses!! Love, Ruth

Ruth, I am so sorry to hear about Dave. I will keep both of you in my prayers. I hope he is feeling better and will soon be home with you.

With love from your friend, Karol
