November 26 Final Update

I just finished supper and have called for my Dilaudid shot. I’ll tell you, that is good stuff. I mg really knocks down any pain and puts you right to sleep. It is also available in pill form. The only let me have some every two hours. It’s right up there with morphine. I think I’m going to find something that will help me to sleep when I get home.

The Vorlon Wife says that Danny looks sad, when she walks out the door and he realizes he’s not going with her. I feel sorry for the little guy, but there is little I can do to help him. I think I’ll ask the hospital if I can bring him in. I suspect not, but the worst they can do is say no.

Hi Ted,
I was just reading about your wish to have Danny boy visit you, it reminded me of the time when I was visiting Ed at Fox Chase (his second round of cancer) when someone brought in a Newfoundland dog, the dog is about the size of a small bear, he was all black and over 150 lbs and he stood up and drapped himself across Ed's bed. Now Ed doesn't remember any of this - shows you how good the drugs are they give you. But his brother was there and saw the whole thing, to this day he thinks we are making the whole thing up!
Hope you are feeling well and they let you out soon.
I don't know about the talcum powder thing, sounds pretty wacky to me, I would think that could bring on more complications but I'm not a doctor - hopefully they know what their doing..ha.
You can be sure when you get home the dog will jump or be excited to see you. They don't forget, if he's like our dogs he will be really happy - then give you attitude for a little while for leaving him, then be your shadow for awhile.
Sorry we missed you on Thanksgiving, Karol told me about the "delicious" meal they gave you at the hospital. Yum?
Our fingers are crossed they let you out real soon so you can reclaim your pillow from the pup.

Hello Ted! Glad the meds are working so well. You know, research has found that not only is laughter the best medicine, but animals are also. There have been quite a few studies done. It's possible Karol may have to jump through a couple of relatively small hoops, but I'm betting that in the end they let her bring Danny to the hospital. If they don't let her walk him in, they might let her bring him in in a pet carrier. She could just wheel it in and open it in your room with the door closed. Of course, she could always try to smuggle him in! :-))) I KNOW he misses you as much, if not more than you miss him!!

Feel better soon!

I know that Danny Boy misses you. After all, you are his Daddy. You might not think of it that way, but to him, you and Karol are his parents.

He'll be glad to see you when you get back home.

We'll all be glad when you are out of the hospital and back home.
