Sunday, May 31, 2009

It was a long day today. I walked Danny around 7am before the rain came. I didn't realize it was supposed to rain. I got ready and packed up the car. I went to my brother's house and we went to the Holmes Church. If I had gone to church here, I wouldn't have gotten out until after 1pm as our service starts late.

After church, we grabbed a sandwich at WaWa and went to Don's house. I walked Danny and had some lunch. Don and I went to the cemeteries to take the flowers. I took artificial flowers this year. I figured I never know if they get enough rain to grow throughout the summer or if they just wither and die. Mount Moriah where my grandparents on my father's side are buried is a mess. I took a couple pictures I'll post tomorrow.

Mount Zion is where my grandparents on my mother's side are buried. It is kept very nice. Two sets of my great grandparents are buried there as well as other relatives. From Mt. Zion, we headed west to Broomall where Ted and my parents are buried. Glenwood Memorial Gardens is also well kept. We placed flowers on the graves and headed back to Don's. He had to cut the grass so I planted some flowers in his yard and picked up the branches so he could mow. I also found some things I had left there several years ago when we had a yard sale. The stuff is still in the trunk of my car. I'll unload it tomorrow. Don took a shower after cutting the grass as it had warmed up and was actually hot out there. I went to Burger King and got a couple Value Meals. Danny woofed for a Junior Burger. Don put on some Maxwell Smart Movies while we ate our burgers. I walked Danny before leaving and saw my friend sitting out on her porch so we talked for a while and our dogs sniffed at each other. I headed home and didn't get in until after 9pm. I watched Arthur but asleep about 15 minutes before the end. Arthur and his knights were in battle and I don't know what happened after that. I awoke to another movie.

Danny is in bed and I'm on my way.

Saturday, May 30, 2009

I trimmed the hedge this morning. The pollen was awful. The fan on the trimmer blows the pollen and debris right in my face. I tried wearing the mask but when I exhale, it steams up my glasses.

After that was done, I took Danny for his walk and had some lunch. Then it was time for Danny’s bath. That’s always fun.

This afternoon, I went down to Michael’s to get some artificial flowers for the cemeteries. I usually plant flowers but I never know how they do as they never get watered or cared for. I thought the artificial might be a better way to go.

For supper, I had a big salad with the produce I got at the produce store and I made strawberry shortcake with the fresh strawberries.

I watched a movie on the television. It was a mystery called “Murder at 1600.” I think I read the book a long time ago. It was by Margaret Truman. I have read a few of her mysteries.

Danny has come to let me know it’s time for bed.

Friday, May 29, 2009

I feel like I get a lot accomplished each day and when I try to think back on what I did, it doesn’t seem like much. I ran around doing my errands this morning. I went to the bank, the drug store, the supermarket and WaWa for gas. When I got home, I put away the groceries, took Danny for his walk and got some lunch. After lunch, I cut the grass. It had been cool this morning but it was hot cutting the grass. I waited until afternoon for it to dry out.

Danny woke me up at 3:15 this morning. I thought he had to go out so I dragged myself out of bed and took him out. It was raining. Danny stood on the back porch for a while and then returned to the house. It had started to lightning and thunder. When we got back into bed, Danny climbed up onto my chest with his tail in my face. I tried to push him down but he climbed back up. He laid there for about ten minutes and then hopped down. I held up the bed skirt and he ran under the bed to hide. He stayed there for about an hour. He had never been afraid of thunder before. He is afraid of firecracker and fireworks but thunder never bothered him. Maybe he thought it was a firecracker. It is thundering now but he seems OK. He is on my lap so I’ll see if he runs under the bed when we get up.

Yellow Dalia

Today would have been our 38th Anniversary. I chose one of Ted's photos of a yellow dalia. He liked yellow flowers. My dalias are not blooming yet this year. I don't even see them coming up. This photo was taken May 28, 2005.

Thursday, May 28, 2009

I woke up at 4:30, got up at 5:00, and took Danny Boy out at 5:30. The humidity was so heavy it felt like the rain was suspended in the air. The air was wet. After breakfast, I did some weeding. The sun came out and it was hot and oppressive. I finished the west side and trimmed the rose bushes, azaleas, and peonies.

I went to the bank and then brought some more boxes of stuff in from the garage. I am getting the space ready to bring the stuff home from the storage unit.

I went to bible study tonight and the pastor talk mostly about words and the translation from Greek to English. In particular, Elohim. The im in Hebrew is plural and is used in the Bible as a singular noun. Some scholars feel it is referring to the Trinity. One entity, but three parts.

We went on to study the Book of Judges.

We ran overtime and I got home late. Danny must have really been zonked out. I had to call him several times. He came sleepily down, stretching as he came to me. I walked him and gave him some more of his dinner. Then he went back to bed. I will join him presently.

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

I packed some more stuff up today. I found my photos and my summer clothes that I had packed away. I have boxes all over the place. There is a storage place over near the mobile home so I’ll take my clutter and things there until I can move into the mobile home. I may keep my Christmas and other decorations there long term. At the end of June, I can move some of the stuff into the mobile home. Most of the stuff I will keep here until I sell the house.

I talked to Adelpha today. She found someone to trim her bushes that she is happy with and the rate is cheap. She talked for awhile and then Danny and I continued our walk.

It looked like it was going to rain this morning but the sun came out this afternoon and it got hot out. It goes from one extreme to the other. Yesterday, I wore my sweatshirt jacket and keep my hands in my pockets it was so cold and nasty. This morning I dressed in long sleeves and jeans with a jacket and this afternoon, I was too hot. On came the air conditioners.

My air conditioner died in this computer room. I hope I can sell this place before I have to buy a new one. A cheap one is not energy efficient and an energy efficient one is more expensive. I just had to get a new dehumidifier. Who knows what else this place will need.

Well, I have to put the car in the garage.

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

I washed up some things today. I had taken down the fish tank and gave my last fish to my niece’s husband. The fish had outgrown my tank and Ed’s tank is bigger. The fish is a placo and eats algae. Ed needed an algae eater and “Sticky” is doing a good job cleaning Ed’s tank. I cleaned the filter; I took it apart and cleaned the inside. I also cleaned the plants and things that were in the aquarium. I still have some more items to clean such as the heater and the top with the lamp.

I went over my finances to see if I where things stood.

It finally rained today but not much. It was gloomy all day and the rain was more of a spit than a drizzle. I don’t know how much we got but it was cold and windy.

I made a casserole for dinner and dropped with in the dishwasher when I took it out of the microwave. The Corning ware dish broke all over the clean dishes. What a mess. It’s a good thing I divided the ingredients into two and put the other half in the freezer. I was able to make another casserole. It was one of my favorite Corning ware dished and one I probably use the most. Maybe I can find another one at an open stock sale or at a yard sale.

Monday, May 25, 2009

I was up early again this morning. After walking Danny, I weeded the flowers on the west side for about a half hour. I was going to change the washers in the water spigots but it wasn’t as easy as I had thought. I thought I just had to unscrew the screw on the handle but the handle didn’t come off and upon looking at the diagram on the box of washers, it looks like I have to pull the stem out. I did manage to shut off the water but I decided to wait until one of my brothers or my brother-in-law comes. I washed half of the curtains on the sun porch. There are ten of them. They are a pain because the little plastic rings brake and I have to fix them every time I wash them. Needless to say, they haven’t been done for a long time. They were full of dust. I even heard Danny sneeze and he was across the room.

I took down hooks and tacks that things were hanging on. I took down the plates I had hanging and some crewel work. I repotted some plants. I had 4 small plants in large pots. There were two kinds so I put them into two pots. It looks like I got a blister under my ring. That’s weird, that never happened before. It must have happened when I was weeding. It just started itching me now.

Danny is zonked out and I will be soon.

Sunday, May 24, 2009

I wish I wouldn’t wake up at 4:30am. I stayed in bed until 5:30, then got up, made the coffee and took Danny out. I sliced up the cheese to take to fellowship. I watered my houseplants and some plants outside that the sprinkler doesn’t reach. I turned on the manual soaker hose and watered the plants out front. I got ready and went to church.

The service started late so therefore, we got out late and since I had fellowship, I didn’t get home until 1:00. I took Danny for a quick walk and then met Joan at the restaurant. I got the broiled crab cake and she got an Italian hoagie. We both enjoyed our meal.

It was hot and humid today. It was supposed to start raining at 3pm but it’s past 11:00 and no rain yet. The humidity is 80% so it’s almost raining. It’s so damp.

I turned the bed around so the headboard is on the south wall. It had been on the west wall but was in front of the window. With the air conditioner in the other window, I wasn’t able to open the windows. Danny doesn’t know what to make of the change. I have an ottoman at the foot of the bed so he can jump up on it. I have to call him around to the foot of the bed until he figures out where the ottoman is. He is used to running up the steps, across the hall and bounding up the ottoman and onto the bed. Now he has to come into the room and around the bed to jump up. If I leave the ottoman on the side of the bed, I’ll probably trip over it. He’s a smart dog; he’ll catch on quick.

Saturday, May 23, 2009

It’s been a long hot day. I got up at 5:30, got some coffee and took Danny for his walk. I went to the Acme to get some things for church fellowship tomorrow. I came home and made my Waldorf Salad to take to my nephew’s bar-b-que. I headed out a little before 10:00 and it’s a good thing because traffic was heavy. It was terrible going the other way toward the shore and when I got over the Delaware Memorial Bridge, the traffic heading for I 95 was backed up all the way from the bridge, I got over to the right, headed down Route 13, and took the back way into Chesapeake City.

I had to drop off some checks to the people I’m buying the mobile home from and the mobile home park manager. It is only 20 minutes from my nephew so I thought it would be a good time to drop off the checks.

It was very hot maybe 96 degrees. The pool was open but the water a little cool. I floated around on a raft. I over ate and felt stuffed. Danny was a good boy through all this. I made one pit stop on the way over and two on the way back. He needed to stretch his little legs. He must have eaten something someone dropped on the floor because he got sick before leaving my nephew’s house. Everything has spices or sauce on it and he has to eat a bland diet or else he gets sick.

He likes my brothers. He jumps up, sits in their laps, and rolls over for a belly rub.

He has gone to bed and is zonked out already. I’m going to join him.

Thursday, May 21, 2009

I trimmed the hedge today. I also made some phone calls and appointments concerning the mobile home. I ironed my khakis and my cotton blouses.

I stopped by the church fellowship leader’s house when I was walking Danny. She invited me in. She said her cats were out on the porch. Danny and I went in and another lady from the church was there. Danny jumped up on Beth’s lap and then went over to Cathy. He sat on Cathy’s lap and rolled over for a belly rub. He made friends so quickly. He likes ladies.

After a quick dinner, I went to pick up my friend June to take her to Bible Study. June doesn’t like to drive in the dark although, tonight, I got her home before dark. The days are growing longer.

I was watching Mystery but it is one I had seen before. I watched until I remembered what happened at the end.

Wednesday, May 20, 2009

I have a few minutes before I have to leave for Toastmasters. I had a busy day. I got up about 5:30 and made the coffee. Danny came down so I walked him. I came back and swept up the driveway. I did some wash and called a friend from church to see if she could take me for my colonoscopy in June. She said she could.

I went to the Red Hat Luncheon and then to the post office in Newfield. They are much nicer there and the line is much shorter. When I got home, I walked Danny again and noticed a nice new kennel for the pit bulls across the street. It is more secure for them but they are still barking all day long. The problem is when the guy brings out the dogs on their leashes is when the one gets away. He should bring them out one at a time.

I went with Melissa to the storage bin. She is going to take our office desks, a chair, and a file cabinet. She volunteered her husband to bring the rest of the stuff home with his truck so I can put it in my garage. I should have done that a while ago and got rid of that expense. I may have to get one near my mobile home until I figure out what I need and don’t need. I hope it will be cheaper down there but this one is cheap here.

Well, it’s about time to go.

I cut the grass this morning. It was long and thick. It was hard to cut. I never saw it so thick. I guess the past few years have been hot and dry so the grass didn't grow very thick. The mulch the city put around the tree has nut grass growing out of it. Thanks a lot. Last year, I had a bumper crop of nut grass but I haven't seen any this year except for the mulch around the tree. Maybe the crab grass preventer had other weed preventer in it.

I got another quote for insurance on the mobile home. The two quotes are about the same.

After lunch, I went to the complex where we used to have our office. I talked with a friend from another company for awhile and then talked with Ann, the manager. She is kind and lets me use her copy machine. I had to make copies of some documents to sent to the state.

I had a busy day today. I made some doctor appointments to have annual tests done before I move. I called my spring water company to suspend delivery. I want to use up the water and then call for them to get the bottles and take the dispenser.

I got some quotes for insurance for my car when I move and insurance for the mobile home.

I email some documents to my real estate lady. One had to be initialed and I had to send a letter about some things on the inspection list that needed to be corrected or taken care of.

I finished trimming the weeds with the weed whacker. The grass is very thick and green. We had so much rain that it is growing fast. It really should be mowed every three days to keep it looking nice. The hedge has slowed down but is now in need of trimming. It went two weeks before it got scruffy looking. I’ll do that tomorrow and the grass on Wednesday.

The church had a covered dish and a concert by the Cumberland Christian School. After church, I went to the Acme to pick up some celery and walnuts to make a Waldorf Salad. I chopped the apples, celery, walnuts, added the raisin and grapes and found I didn't have enough mayo. I had to run back to the Acme. I was fortunate. I ran in got the mayo and checked out at the self checkout. I went home, finished making my salad and walked Danny. I left earyl for the church to help with the set up. I help put some things on the tables and sliced up the Italian Bread. The food was delicious. The concert was excellent. The school choir and orchestra gave an excellent performance.

Saturday, May 16, 2009

I just got back from Chesapeake City. I met with the Mobile Park Manager and the Building Inspector. He found some minor stuff but everything seems to be in order. The ducts need cleaning and a 20-amp circuit breaker needs to be switched with a 15-amp circuit breaker. The owner will have that done. The back door needs to be replaced because the seal between the double panes is leaking and moisture is getting in. The drains in the bathroom sink need cleaning as the water goes down slowly.

The inspector did a though job. I hate to see what they find in this old place.

My niece and her husband took me to dinner at the new Chinese Buffet, Hibachi’s. We met the owners of the Mobile Home there. It was a nice restaurant.

This morning, I dropped Danny Boy off at the Kennel. I stopped at Vineland Founders Day on the way back home and watched Erica’s riding students perform. They were doing horse Vaulting. It’s gymnastics on horseback. The kids and Erica were dressed like Indians in Buckskins. They looked cute and performed well. The littlest boy stood up on the horse and road him around. The other did what looked like Yoga positions on the horse. It was amazing to watch.

Friday Flowerblogging

yellowrose051409.jpg

Here are some photos of what's blooming in the garden. Yellow rose, wild phlox, and iris.

I had things to do. I typed a wrong digit in my SS number on my NJ income tax. I contact the state and the lady told me what to do and I did it. I should have known it would come back to haunt me. I got a letter saying I had to send a bunch of documentation including a copy of my SS card. I used to always carry it in my wallet but I read that you shouldn't do that because if the wallet is lost or stolen, some one would have access to your identy. I took it out of my wallet and put it somewhere. The problem is, I couldn't remember where. I wasted a few hours looking for it and fould it in the first place I looked. It was stuck to another card. Aren't these things just lovely? I had some other business to take care of, online and faxes. I walked Danny Boy and then had some lunch. I made an omlett with those eggs I bought. They were Extra Large eggs not large. They came from the poultry farm of one of Ted's clients. I guess the produce store tries to get local produce. They are also a good source to get boxes.

I drove over to Wal-Mart to get an iron. Everyone's iron must have gone on the blink at the same time because they shelves the irons were on were nearly cleaned out. I got a Sunbeam in the price bracket I was looking for - cheap. It doesn't seem to matter whether you get a cheap one or an expensive one. They all seem to be cruddy. The steam stops working properly after a month even though you follow the instruction for use and care. It either doesn't steam or it gushes out soaking the garment. If you're lucky, it's only water and not black gunky water.

I went to the cleaners and the produce store today. The produce store had large eggs for $1.00 a dozen. I don’t eat many eggs but at that price, I will be eating them. I got some white grapes for .99, some baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, and strawberries. I figured I’d get a thick slice of Swiss cheese at their deli and cut it up on my salad.

I went to the bank and then down to home depot. I got some line for my trimmer and looked at a few other things.

When I got home, I walked Danny and then made my big salad. I was filled up and not hungry for dinner. I had a smoothie.

A big wind came up this afternoon. When I went out to walk Danny at dinnertime, there were branches and debris all over the place. How disheartening after cleaning up yesterday. I shouldn’t have bothered.

I went to Bible Study this evening. I will do some reading and hit the hay.

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

I did the trimming and edging along the east side of the house and along the hedge at the curb. I just got finished sweeping up the clippings when the city road department came along to pick up the branches, leaves and clippings. They have a machine with a big claw on the front that picks up the branches and debris. They dragged the branches half way down the block and put them in the dump truck spilling the mess all over the street where I had just swept. I was ticked. What a mess they left for me to clean up.

I didn’t get my trimming done as I ran out of line and have to get some at the store. I cleaned up and walked Danny Boy. I had some lunch and rested for a while. I went out and planted the impatiens around the rhododendrons.

After dinner, I went to walk Danny and that pit bull came charging up the street. I quick ran back to the house dragging poor Danny as fast as I could go. He didn’t know what was going on. He did not see the pit bull. It ran on by and was investigating some people who were walking up the street. She was friendly to them but I can’t trust her with Danny. Her owner came and got her so I was able to take Danny out. I’m really getting aggravated with that dog getting away all the time.

I’m beat so I’ll do some reading and turn in.

I planted my flower across the front today. I planted Vincas; white with red centers. Ted liked them. We planted the white ones one year. Other years we planted pink. I would have planted a mixture but since I’m leaving, I just went with the one flat. I had enough to plant some around the new tree. The white flowers look nice with the green foliage.

I did some computer work today and balanced my checkbook. I also read the instructions on how to operate the dehumidifier and got that going. I put the manual timers on the hoses and got the automatic ones out. I have to find the instructions for them. They operate by battery. Programming them is complicated. I hope I can get them going.

I talked to my friend, Naomi this morning and I called my cousin Joy in the afternoon. Naomi wanted to know about the mobile home and I wanted to let Joy know. She and her family have dinner near my new mobile home quite often. They are familiar with the little town.

Monday, May 11, 2009

This morning, I got out the instructions and figured out how to hook up the hose to the dehumidifier. I’ll have to get them out again to figure out how to run it. I can turn it on but there is the programmable thermostat and other things that I have no clue. I packed up some sweaters, did some laundry, walked Danny Boy, had lunch, and cut the grass. I also put some soil around the new tree to make the area a square rather than a circle. It had only four inches between the mulch and the curb and sidewalk making it difficult if not impossible to cut with the mower. This way, it’s square off even with the curb and sidewalk and won’t have to be mowed.

After that, I was tired out. I got my dinner ready to put in the oven when I took Danny for his late afternoon walk. Danny has turned in and I am about to. I’ll do some reading and then it’s off to count Z’s.

Sunday, May 10, 2009

After church, I went to lunch with my friend, Joan from church. We went to the Ramada Inn Café. We figured it wouldn’t be crowded with Mothers Day diners. After lunch, I stopped in Wal-Mart and got a couple items and a dehumidifier. I had an employee help me load it into the car and wondered how I was going to get it out of the car and into the basement. It had handles on the sides of the box so it wasn’t too bad. After setting it on the table, I had to go upstairs and read the instructions to figure out how to attach the hose.

I took Danny for a nice long walk after I made sure that darn pit bull across the street had been caught and secured to his lead. They seem to be very lax with that animal. I heard them calling him so I had to take Danny back into the house until it was safe to bring him out.

I walked him around the block, going an extra street over and cutting through my yard on the west side to avoid walking by the pit bulls home.

I thought I would plant my flowers this afternoon but the day was shot. I talked to Ted’s Mother and now I will have a cup of tea and a Klondike bar.

I did unpack my summer shoes and pack up my winter shoes and winter tights. I also changed the sheets. So, that is my work for today.

Tomorrow I have to revise my To Do List and prioritize what needs to be done. I should go and get the air-conditioner so I’ll have it ready for when my brother swings by on Tuesday. He is down the shore for a few days.

It was in the 80’s today. My brother can and put in my air-conditioners. The one in the computer room has gone caput. I’ll have to get a new one. Bummer.

I used the weed trimmer out front this morning. I trimmed along the curb, and both sides of the sidewalk, the area around the new tree, and the flowerbed. I had to sweep up the sidewalk and get showered before my brother came. The heat had already pumped up. I felt exhausted the rest of the day. The sun seemed extra hot maybe because of all the rainy days.

The basement smells damp so I’ll have to get down to home depot and pick up the dehumidifier tomorrow. I wish these things could have lasted a little longer. At least until I get this house sold.

I decided not to go to dinner with my brother and his wife. My niece is taking them for Mother’s Day. It’s at a restaurant near where my new mobile home is. I can’t wait to move in so I won’t have so far to drive for family gatherings. I have to drive over next week to fill out some paper work for the mobile home park. It’s an hour and a half drive making 3 hours total.

Danny was zonked out in the air-conditioned bedroom. I had to call him so he could go out before I turned in.

I was planning to go to home depot to get a new dehumidifier and air conditioner but had to go to the doctor’s office. I called to get my prescription filled. I needed a new one because I changed insurances and my new one has a different mail order company. The doctor wanted to see me first. It was nine o’clock and I made the appointment for 10. He went over my blood work and it all looked good except for my bad cholesterol was a little high. I have to improve my diet. I guess that means to cut back on my Klondike bars. My good cholesterol was good. He also gave me some scripts for various screenings. The imaging lab that has my records has closed. I will have to call the place that took them and go to get them.

I was ironing yesterday and my iron is not working. I hope I can move before anything else breaks down.

On my way home from the doctor’s, I stopped to get some flowers at the garden mart. I got some Vincas for the front and some lavender impatents for the east side. When I get them planted, I’ll go back to get some for the back yard. I’ll try to spread them further apart so I won’t have to buy as many and not have to spend as much money.

It was rather sad. I looked at the flowers and thought of the ones Ted would like and I also saw some that I knew he wouldn’t like. He did not like the salmon colored impotents. I think they look pretty with lavender but he did not like them. I saw some salmon petunias and thought, “No, Ted would not like them.”

I stopped for gas at the WaWa and used my rebate card from Verizon. I got it when I upgraded my laptop. The attendant had to run inside to process it. The pump wouldn’t accept it. She was quick. I thought it would take her longer as the gas station is separated from the store.

I walked Danny when I got home, had some lunch and cut the grass. It dried out a little but was still heavy and thick. I put the fertilizer on just before we got all the rain. I should have cut it twice. It would flatten down and some strands of grass would pop up after I mowed. I recut some but I’ll have to do it again in a few days. That darn hedge is growing too rapidly. We get more rain tomorrow.

When I was walking Danny this afternoon, my neighbor’s son walked over and offered to cut the grass for me. He’s about 19. I thought how nice of him but also thought he doesn’t do his own grass. I kind of chuckled. He may do it now that he’s older but his mother had to scream at him to get him to do anything. There are six children in the family and they are all nice kids. Five boys and one girl.

My brother is coming tomorrow to help me put in the air conditioners. We’ll take a look at this one in the computer room. It doesn’t sound right. We’ll take it apart and see if we see anything obvious that could be wrong with it. I’ll have to replace it if we don’t see anything. It is running loudly. The same thing with the dehumidifier. The iron just doesn’t get hot. I knocked it on the floor last week. I guess something broke inside.

My new place has central air. That will make things so much nicer.

I did some work online today. I had to research some things. It’s amazing how much time is eaten up on the computer. It rained most of the day. It cleared off for a while but not enough for the grass to dry out before it rained again. I went to Bible Study tonight and it had cleared off by the time I came home.

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

I ran some errands this morning. I stopped at the farm market and got some fresh spinach and red leaf lettuce.

After lunch, I cut the hedge. It nearly took me two hours. It normally takes one hour. The rain had made it grow fast and thick. I was really beat afterward. It is now raining and is supposed to rain through Saturday. I will most likely have the same problem next week with the growth of the hedge and grass. I don’t know when I’ll get to the back yard with the mower. I thought of doing it when I finished the hedge but I was too tired. I dismissed the thought immediately.

I am off to bed.

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

I got some of the grass cut. I mowed the front and side and between the hedge and curb. At least the curb appeal part is done. I shut off the mower to look underneath to make sure there were no clumps of wet grass. There weren’t and then I was unable to get it start so I could do the backyard. I’m tired out anyway. The hedge will take two or three days to get it done but it’s supposed to rain again for a couple days. Two of my neighbors were cutting their grass between the storms.

I decided to put a deposit on the mobile home. I think it’s a good deal and I don’t want to let it pass by. When my niece sends the photos she took, I’ll post them. The people won’t be ready to move out until the end of June as their daughter will be graduating high school. I’m in no hurry. I think it will work out fine.

Monday, May 4, 2009

It rained all day and it will be raining for the next week. We may get a break on Wednesday. I hope I can get my yard work done then.

I went to my aunts today to help her with her Red Hat Luncheon. My cousin was there to help, too. She made all the sandwiches and got the tables ready. I helped to put the sandwiches and desserts on platters and took the ladies coats to the bedroom. It was a lovely gathering and everyone enjoyed themselves. There were 17 of us altogether. My cousin and I helped the ladies walked to their cars as the driveway was steep and the rain made it slippery. My aunt’s dogwoods and azaleas were in bloom and she has a wonderful view of them out her family room windows.

Danny did not like going out in the rain. The rain let up a little so I took him out for a walk. He has gone to bed now.

I feel like joining him.

I decided to wait until tomorrow to return home because of it being rush hour traffic and the rain making it so dark.

Sunday, May 3, 2009

Yesterday, I went to look at a mobile home near my niece in Maryland. It is a beautiful home located just outside a quaint little town near the Chesapeake. It is a double wide and has large rooms. It is the perfect home for me and the price is right. It is three minutes from my niece and twenty minutes from my nephew. They allow small dogs; Most important in finding a place to live. I also have friends living twenty minutes away in a camp ground along the Sassafras River. Alberta lives there full time, Rosie, Dottie, and their cousin live there in the summer. I grew up with the sisters. Their were 7 in their family. Their children also have mobile homes in the campground.

The mobile home I looked at is immaculate. It has three bedrooms with an office or den off the master bedroom. It has a large bathroom off the master with a garden tub and separate shower. The bedrooms are 11x14. About the same as the ones I have at my home. The living room and kitchen are 19x14 and have a large archway between them. The kitchen has an island with a sink and dishwasher. It has ample cabinet space and a large pantry. It has a laundry room. It has a good size yard with plenty of space to plant flowers and there is a storage shed that has electric. The only negative thing I see is the teenage girls bedroom is purple. That can easily be change with paint or wall paper. The kitchen has a Prego wood floor. The dining area is large enough to allow my table to extend with its three leaves.

My brothers, sister-in-law, and my niece and her husband, and my friend, Dottie, all came to look at the mobile home. Everyone loved it. I talked to some of the neighbors and they said it is the best place to live. They said if I decided to move in they would be there to help me if needed. It is a small mobile home park with only two streets. It is surrounded by state game lands.

I am staying with my brother for a couple days. My aunt is having a Red Hat luncheon at her home tomorrow and asked me to help her with it. It is a dreary morning and it is supposed to rain for the next week. The hedge and grass will be overwhelming. I was unable to cut it this weekend because of the rain. It makes the hedge and grass grow even more. I’ll have to cut the hedge in stages and not do it all in one day.
