Tuesday, August 31, 2010

We packed up and got underway by 10am. When I got home I noticed some of my blinds were out of kilter. In the laundry room, the little knobs on the cords were broken. Some of the blinds were in the opposite direction that they were supposed to be and the cord was wrapped around the top of the blind and inside. Then I found five downstairs windows had not been locked. The upstairs bathroom had the curtain fastens broken and it hanging down funny. A curtain in the livingroom is hung crooked. The inspector really went nuts with the windows. I hope that was his nitch and he overlooked other stuff.

Erica and Chuck came over tonight. Chuck wanted to look at what I had to load into the truck. He will come over and disassemble some of the stuff so that it will be ready to load onto the truck. I am pleased that he will do this for me. He is knowledgable about moving stuff.

It is very hot here. The high for today, on the weather chanel, said 95 and then announced the present temp. was 97.

I called my cousin. I tried a couple times before and didn't get an answer. I thought maybe she was visiting her daughter in Virginia. Her husband answered the phone and told me she has been having health problems from her medications. She has been in and out of the hospital twice and will be going to a physical therapy facility. She is feeling better and I hope she continues to feel better and get stronger.

I got some work done today. I trimmed the weeds with the weed whacker. I moved some more stuff around getting the place ready to move in. I researched where the critters may be coming in. It may be under the stove. There is a gap where the gas pipe comes up. It may be difficult to reach it and you’re not supposed to use the foam near an open flame. The flame is not on as it has an electric pilot. I may stuff some steel wool down the whole and crack between the floor and wall.

I ironed my clothes but I must have forgotten to bring some as they are missing from my ironing pile. I trimmed Danny this morning and he got his bath this afternoon. He tore through the house when I opened the bathroom door. He has about 40 feet he can run from the master bedroom through the living room. He ran back and forth until I got the hair dryer out and he jumped up on the bed to get dry. He knows the hair dryer dries him. He is nice and silky and soft and clean.

I heard from Ted’s niece’s husband, John. He, Suzanne and their daughter, Nuriel will be coming to visit me on Labor Day. I’m looking forward to seeing them.

I looked at the church schedule last night and saw that they were having their roast pig BBQ today. I opened my cupboard and thought what can I bring? I didn’t feel like running out to the store. I had two big cans of Van Camp’s Baked Beans. I decided to take them. I heated them in the microwave this morning and put them in my cooler with a heat pad that I heated in my microwave. Off to church I went. The service and BBQ were held at the Town Point UMC. I put the beans in the kitchen and went into the sanctuary. The choir director handed me a hymnal and said, “Good to see you, you’re singing today.” I said, “I hope I know the song.” It was “Come to the Church in the Wildwood.” It was the last service at the Town Point Church. They merge together in CC next week. There was a big turnout. All three services were together. The BBQ was good. I sat with my friend, Joan, and some other church people. I knew Tucker and Helen from CC church and met some new people. They usually went to the Contemporary Service.

It was a wonderful day weather-wise. Not too hot and the humidity was low. I did get hot later but not until I got home. I walked Danny and realized I forgot my dish and cooler at the church. I ran back and retrieved it just as someone was picking it up off the table to take inside. All the beans were gone. They were really good. I didn’t doctor them up or anything. I don’t think I had Van Camp before. I had gotten them and brought them here just in case I needed an emergency covered dish. It was a good choice. There was only one other baked bean dish and I liked mine better.

Everyone was happy I sold my house and I could join them on a regular basis. My exercise group doesn’t have an exercise tape as the machine ate the one we all liked. I don’t know what happened to the others as I think they had a couple. I will look through mine to see if I have one the others might like. I don’t know where they are though. Everything is in boxes. I tried to label them but I still can’t find them. They may still be in Vineland.

I got my curtains put up today. I put my lace curtains in the living room and in the master bedroom. I put the yellow curtains in the yellow bedroom. The master bedroom also has room darkening curtains underneath to block out the street light. I had to drill holes and put up the hardware. My lace priscillias and under tiers needed three rods put a fouth for the room darkening drapes. They make it look more like my home. I can wait to get my furniture moved in.

Friday, August 27, 2010 CC

I worked on the railing on my front steps. I sawed off the nails and replaced them with Brackets and screws on the sides and bolts on the top. When I move my furniture in, I can easily take the railing off and the big items can be slipped right in without having to go up and over the railing and then try to get it down under the door and into the house. I saw the movers taking things out when the people I bought the mobile home from moved out. They tore the storm door off the frame and had a difficult time with the king size mattress. I had a queen size mattress delivered and it was a struggle getting that in. Taking the railing off will really make things easier when moving in the mattress, sofabed, loveseat, and triple dresser. I guess all the big items like the china closet and computer desk will go in easier.

I heard from Melissa. The real estate guy didn't check the cellar door. He didn't know that it sometimes came unlatched. The burglar alarm went off. I didn't hear the cell phone ring so the police came. Fortunately, the police knew the real estate man and didn't cart him off to jail. The evaluations and inspections went well. I guess nothing major.

My friend, Dottie, will be helping me bring down the computers next week. Then I can get my TV, internet, andphone service installed in here. Ted's business partner, Fred, said he would hook them up. God has placed the right people to help me at the right time. A big thank you to Him.

I met another neighbor, Bonnie. I talked with her for awhile. She thought Danny looked like Bambi who lives across the street. Bonnie lives on the other road. Well, it's curtains for me tomorrow. I have to install the hardware for the curtain rods.

Friday Flower Blogging

082610sunflower.jpg

This big sunflower was growing in a neighbor's yard in Chesapeake City.

It was 55 degrees this morning. The cool weather feels good since just a few weeks ago it was 80 degrees at 6am. I had to do the yard work early and now, I have to wait until it warms up. I moved some more of my things out of the way so I could place my furniture when I move in. I will be hanging curtains today. I washed them and brought them down. The only one I didn't bring was the one I have in the bathroom. I still need that one because I have a shade rather than a miniblind.

Thursday, August 26, 2010

I packed up the car and got on the road by 10:30. We got to the mobile home a little before noon. Everyone was happy to see me and glad I sold my house. The neighbors had been worried about me because I was gone for such a long time. It took awhile to recover from my trip. I guess climbing up lighthouses and sand dunes did me in.

I unpacked the car and planted a couple of the plants I dug up this morning. The hibiscus looked dried out. I hope I didn't kill it. I gave it plenty of water. I took Danny for his walk. When we got back, I had some lunch and put the things away. I cleared out the areas where I will put my furniture. I noticed some mouse droppings in the cabinet and also the peanut butter was licked off the trap without springing it. I don't know how the critter could have done that as they spring so easily. I'll have to get some more expansion foam and go to work on all the areas where they might be squeezing in. It isn't even cold yet. I have mint planted around some of the outside. I’ll have to get some more and do the whole perimeter of the house. They don't like mint. Robbie cut my grass today. He pulled out the big weed that had buds all over it. I had wanted to see what it looked like but his mother said it was 6 feet tall and if it flowered and seeded they would be all over, Good point. I have a lot of weeding to do. I didn't weed in Vineland I just ran over everything with the mower. The grass needed cutting and it's only been a couple days. There is a lot of nut grass. I'll cut it when I get back. I emptied two inches of rain out of the rain gauge at the mobile home. My mums are budded up. I'll have to get some more when they come in and put them across the front.

Danny has gone off to bed. He doesn't bother to wait for me.

We thought we climbed to the top of the dune but found we were only halfway there. We took a photo of a group of people and they took ours.
The lake in the background is not Lake Michigan but another lake across from the parking lot. We are looking up at the rest of the dune.

082510450drop.jpg This sign was posted but half buried in the sand. It warned that there was a 450 foot drop down to Lake Michigan. In the photo you can see that not many took heed of the sign and hadn't for a while. There was no life guard. Many people were pulled out by rip currents in Lake Michigan this year.

I didn't make it to MD today. I had some errands to run. I had to return something to Erica before I left and when I told her how much the moving company was, she told me her husband was out of work and he would look into how much it would be to rent a truck and he and a friend could do it. We looking into that option.

I heard from my friend Phyllis and called her. We had lunch at Larry's. The repairs are finally done on their trailer. It has been 4 months. They were staying at a motel. She was going to have dinner with a friend from the Human Resource Assoc. so I gave her a box of things I had that belong to that organization. Sunday, I gave the Nature Club things to another member who went to my church and yesterday, I took a couple bags of things to the Salvation Army. Now I have to give the Red Hat stuff to someone and I will be clear of all my organizations.

I worked on the expenses we had on our trip. I cost a good 600 dollars more than our trip to California. Airfare was about the same but now there are baggage charges and the rental car had a lot of extra fees that we didn't know about until we got there. They added a fee for an additional driver and the loss of use insurance was more than the regular insurance.

I got my photos ready for the next part of the Michigan trip but I hadn't written the log. I'll post my photos now and then write the log later.

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

Today, I packed some more things and fixed a couple things getting ready for the sale and inspection. I went to do some errands and then stopped in at Erica's, Danny's sitter. After lunch, the man from United Van Lines came and went over everything and gave me an estimate. Cha Ching! Cha Ching! Over $3000.00. We always had Ted's employer pay for our moves except when we were just starting out and we could rent a truck. Now that I am alone, I have to pay through the nose for everything. Bummer!

Sunday, August 15, 2010

I had wanted to go to church with Ted’s parents but we wanted to get an early start. We had a long drive ahead of us. I watched Pastor David Jeremiah on the television. He comes on at 7am. I enjoy his sermons. He is also on the internet.

We got on the road about 9am. I photographed lots of barns on M66 as we went north. We stopped in Petroskey for lunch. We ate on the deck of a pizza parlor. It looked out over Little Traverse Bay new the northern end. It is a bay off of Lake Michigan. We got to Mackinaw City about 3:30 in the afternoon. We checked in and hurried to the Mackinaw Point Lighthouse. We climbed to the top and went to the museum. It closed at 5:00. We looked for the McGolpin’s Lighthouse but were unable to find it. It is privately owned and not opened to the public. We went to the Mackinaw Crossings complex of shops. They were having a Guitar Rock Camp Concert. The young people did very well. We went back to the motel and I changed into my jeans and jacket. It had gotten cooler. We were not hungry because of the big lunch we had. We looked out at Lake Huron and the beach at our motel. It was right on the lake with a view of Mackinac Island and the bridge. Lots of boats and marinas were nearby.
We went back to the Mackinaw Crossings and got a big waffle ice cream cone. We went to watch the rest of the Rock Camp after which, they had a lazar light show. When it was over, we returned to the motel and Don took a picture of the Mackinaw Bridge all lit up at night.

The motel had a continental breakfast, which had 3 kinds of cold cereal, oatmeal, waffles, juice and coffee. It opened at 6am so I was able to get a cup of coffee first thing. Michigan is at the western end of the Eastern Time zone so the sun comes up an hour later than on the east coast. We took some photos of the sunrise over Lake Huron. It came up about 6:45.

We drove to Sault Ste. Marie (pronounce Soo Ste. Marie). We had the Canadian station on the radio and the temp. was reported as 19 degrees, that’s Celsius. It was about 54 degrees. We went to the Soo Locks Museum. It has quite a history. It is a narrow passage that separates the US and Canada. Sault Ste. Marie is also on the Canadian side but we didn’t have passports so were not able to go over there.

The next stop was Iroquois Point Lighthouse on Whitefish Bay. We followed the Lakeshore Drive. It was quite scenic seemed far from civilization. The next stop was the town of Paradise for lunch. This little town had the only restaurants around for miles. Of course, we got the whitefish and chips. It was served with more fries than one could eat and a delicious coleslaw.

After lunch, we headed on up to Whitefish Point Lighthouse and Shipwreck Museum on Lake Superior. It has been and still is a very dangerous area for ships. The ships pass through this area and through the Soo Locks. It is the only shipping passage out of Lake Superior.

Lake Superior was rough that day and had a stony beach. It also had sand that was littered with dead trees and logs that had washed up on the shore. Lake Superior looked like the ocean and I did not taste it but has fresh water rather than salt water.

082410falls.jpg

From there, we headed southwest to the Taquamenon Falls. (Rhymes with Phenomenon) It is a series of falls that spread over 4 miles. We went to the Upper Falls and hiked along there. Our guidebook said that the lower falls were not as spectacular as the upper falls. There were a couple of overlooks along the trail. One had 94 steps and the other had 116 steps. I was tired out climbing steps. We opted to go to the Bear Park but got there too late. It closed at 5pm and we and other tourists got there at 5:30. The UP is pretty much a wilderness of pine trees, birch, and sugar maples.

We got back to the motel and again were not hungry because of our big lunch. We went over to the Commons to get some fudge and a waffle ice cream cone. It was raining so we turned in.

Monday, August 23, 2010 From my Log

Friday, August 13, 2010

We took off from Philadelphia at 9:30 and arrived in Detroit at 11am. We got a little yellow Chevy Aveo from the rental car agency and drove west to Battle Creek. I noticed all the barns along the way so started snapping photos. I took them as we drove by so Barnstorming is a good name for the series.

We met my good friend, Ruth for lunch in Battle Creek at the Ruby Tuesday’s restaurant. It was wonderful to meet Ruth, as we had been E-mail pals for years. She has been a great support of Ted and me through his illness and since his passing.

We left Battle Creek and headed to Ted’s parents to stay. It was good to see them. I hadn’t seen them since Ted’s funeral. They are doing well and were getting ready for their granddaughter, Rachel’s wedding. After dinner, we watched the hummingbirds feeding at their hummingbird feeder. It was fascinating to watch them. Don had never seen hummingbirds in person so he took photos and videos of them.

Saturday, August 14, 2010

While Ted and Phylis were getting their hair done for Rachel’s wedding, I took Don over to see the farm where Ted grew up. We also went into town and got a couple things at the grocery store. The airline confiscated my shampoo, conditioner, and face wash. I had put them in my carry on because I only took a suit bag and didn’t want them to leak on my clothes. I bought the smallest items I could find but they were too big to carry on. I only took one suitcase because the airline charged $25.00 each way per bag. Arranging travel is the pits. Spirit Airlines was a lot cheaper but first flew to Chicago and then to Detroit. It made an hour and a half flight five hours long. Southwest was a two-hour drive to Baltimore and then another two hours from Detroit to Ted’s parents. PHL is only 15 minutes from Don’s house.

After a light lunch, we got ready for Rachel’s wedding. Tom, Mary, and David stopped in before we had to leave for the wedding. It was good to see them. Tom is Ted’s brother. It was good to see them and after a nice visit, we left for the wedding. We went a little early because Ted and Phylis were having their photo with the bride.

Rachel looked radiant in her bridal gown and Kathy looked wonderful in her mother of the bride dress. Rachel’s niece, Nuriel, 6 years old, started to sing but couldn’t hear the music. She didn’t know what to do; she became upset and started to cry. Kathy went up and took her to her seat next to her. Everyone clapped for her. We all felt sorry for her. She sang her song later at the reception. The six bridesmaids had lovely bright pink dresses and the flowers were just beautiful. The wedding was outdoors and the reception indoors at the country club in Lowell.

She is a friend of Ted's parent's and I was so very happy to have the opportunity to meet her in person. She is and has been a great supporter of Ted when he was ill and of me the past few years. Thank you Ruth. Your comments have been uplifting and a joy for me to read.

Sunday, August 22, 2010

it rained today. It feels good except that the humidity is so high one can hardly breathe. I am still working on typing up my log from my trip to Michigan. I uploaded my photos yesterday and put captions in them. I prepared some for posting but have more to do. I didn't do much today. I folded the curtains that I washed yesterday and will be taking them to Maryland. I took out the hardware for the curtain rods and washed the wall near the air cleaner. You could see the outline of the pictures I had hanging. Fortunately, it washed off easily. I did some research into moving companies. I went to church and then to lunch with my friends. I brought 2/3 of it home as they served a lot of food.

I am still tired out from my trip and am anxious about getting ready for the move. I am going to watch Masterpiece Mystery at 9:00 and it runs until 10:30 so i am blogging now.

Friday Flowerblogging

A thistle blooming along Lake Superior.

I cut the grass this morning. I only cut the front and half of the backyard. The rest didn't need it. The lady who is buying my house, came by to introduce herself and ask some questions. I downloaded my photos and labeled some of them. I have over 60 barn shots as well as shots of the wedding and our trip around the state of Michigan. I'll start posting them tomorrow.

Don and I caught the 9:25 flight for Michigan. W drove about an hour and a half to me my friend, Ruth in Battle Creek. We had a lovely lunch and it was wonderful to meet my blogging buddy in person. We were both happy to be able to get together in person. I will post a photo of the two of us when I return.

While at the restaurant, Melissa called and had shown someone my house and they made an offer. I made a counter offer and we met in the middle. They want to make settlement the end of Sept. YIPPEE!

We drove up the road to Ted's parents house and there were lots of barns to photograph for my barn storming series. I couldn't get shots of them all. Some didn't com out as we were moving but most are OK.

We were happy to see Ted's parents. We took a walk around the yard to stretch our legs. We had a nice dinner of Chicken ,potato salad, rolls, and watermelon. After dinner, we sat on the deck and watched the hummingbirds come to the feeder. Don and I got some photos of them.

Town Point United Methodist Church

Barn Storming

081110barntownpt.jpg

This is the scene looking out the front windows of the Town Point Church. The church is part of the Methodist Charge where I attend. Town Point has an early service so I go there in the summer. It has a very small congregation and will be closing at the end of August. I feel sorry for the members their. They built that church but there are just not enough people to support it. They are going to combine all the services at Trinity, the church in Chesapeake City. They also have a contempary service at the high school. They have to pay rent to the school so that too, will be held at Trinity. There are pros and cons to this move. If I were a member at Town Point, I would go to the Episcopal service that is held in the Town Point Church. I don't have any sympathy for the service at the high school. One of the cons of that service is that some of the people feel uncomfortable in a church building. HELLO! What do they think church is?

I am not comfortable in a contermpary service. To me it is like a hymn sing at summer camp.
The people dress like they are at summer camp. I was brought up in a Presbyterian Church. You stood up to sing and the rest of the time, you sat in your seat and didn't move. You did not get up to go to the bathroom unless it was an emergency. You did not drink soda or coffee in the sanctuary. You did not wear shorts and speghetti strap tops.

One time, where attending church at Holmes Presbyterian, the fire whistle went off. Many of the members were firemen including the chief. The firemen all looked around at each other not daring to move to leave the service. The minister said, "I believe you gentlemen have somewhere that you must go." They all got up and ran out. Times have change. I don't think there would be any hesitation today.

081110katydid.jpg

Look at the size of this critter that was on my storm door of my mobile home. I believe it is a katydid but am not sure.

I didn't blog yesterday because Monday night, a neighbor stopped me to talk and my legs were eaten alive with misquitoes. I tried everything I could think of to stop the itching but to no avail. I finally took a Benidryl and it knocked me out. I fell asleep on the sofa. I can home to a hothouse. It had been closed up for several days of 95 degrees. It took all night for the window air conditioners to cool the place down. The overnight low was 75 so there is not much relief coming in the windows that I opened this morning. Danny has been lying in the downstairs bathroom against the toilet. I guess the water in the bowl is cool and so it the tile floor. I don't know why he doesn't go up to the air conditioned bedroom. I guess he wants to keep his ears tuned into me. He wouldn't hear me upstairs with the air on.

I had to take another Benedryl this morning. When I was walking Danny, my legs started itching again. One of the welts is 3 inches around. There must be multiple bits in that spot. I hadn't noticed any misquitos around my mobile home but there are wetlands nearby.

I went to the Historical Society today and did some research on Grandmother Orrell's Family. Her name was Krauss. She died when I was 7 years old and I didn't know anything about the Krauss family. Aunt Emma told me she had a brother and sister who were twins. I found the family online about ten years ago. Dad said she was from New Castle, DE. The problem was she wasn't born there. She was born In MD not too far from where my mobile home is. I knew the family was from this area but did not know her grandparents. I found them today and can trace the family back to Germany to the 1600's, I knew about Captain Leonard Krauss but until today, I was unable to connect to him. He fought in the Revolutionary War and was George Washington's Tailor and friend. He came here from Germany as a youth. He first was in Lancaster, PA and then Cecil County, MD. I thought they might be Lutheran being German but Leonard is buried in a Methodist Cemetery. Of course, his wife may have been Methodist or they probably went to the nearest church which was either Methodist or Quaker. When Leonard came to Cecil County, he built and ran a Tavern and yes, his friend, George Washington slept there. He had 17 children so there are a lot of Krauss's in the area. I copied a photo of him and will try to scan it into my home computer. It was expensive research. I was so engrossed in the research that I forgot about the time, the parking meter expired and I got a ticket. It cost $15.00. Bummer!

I have two showings on my house, today and tomorrow. Let's hope one of these is the one who buys. I have lowered the price so I am practically giving the house away. I hope I will be able to find a job so I can make up the difference. I have some work I want to do on my mobile home.

I slept late this morning. I walked Danny and went to the early service at Town Point. I felt rather tired. I had gotten in late last night after visiting my friends at Indian Acres. Danny seemed tired out too. He didn't walk far. At noon, he ate some grass and went back into the house. The sun was hot, well into the 90's but the humidity was low. I was going to run over to Lowe's but didn't feel like it. I ironed my clothes and watched some Rockford files.

As I drive through the countryside, I see a lot of interesting barns. I decided to do a photo series on them. I started today with the barn across from Town Point Church and another along the road. I will have to walk up the bridge and get a nice shot of a barn from there. There are some interesting barns on the road from NJ to here. I will get shots of them on my next trip.

Tonight, I watched some more of Babylon 5. I am into the 5th and final season now.

It's time to get in some reading and some sleep.

I went to the Home Depot this morning. I exchanged the touch light kit that I had purchased last week. It had been opened and taped shut. I didn't know whether it worked or not so I just returned it without opening it.

When I got home, my friend, Dottie had called and invited me to her family get-together at Indian Acres Campground. Her grandson, Josh, had just gotten back from Afghanistan. Indian Acres is about 25 minutes south of my mobile home. They had planned the homecoming for next week but Josh surprised them by coming home a week early.

Dottie's son, Eddie, had his camper all decorated in red, white, and blue. Dottie's family was there plus cousins and friends. Everyone had a wonderful time and the weather was great. Dottie took her husband's cousin for a ride in her golf cart. Danny and I sat in the back. He was in a basket that was mounted in back of the back seat. He was up high and could see all around. It is a lovely campground on the Sassafras River. It is huge. It has a very nice large swimming pool and a separate and good size baby pool. There is a boat dock and ramp for the members to keep their boats. It has a Club House for the members to use. They lost their large round outdoor pavilion last winter from the weight of the snow on the roof. The built a new one but it is rectangular. The round one was too expensive to replace. The campground also has a general store and restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch.

Friday, August 6, 2010

I got ready and drove to CC this morning. There was a lot of traffic on 896. I guess people were going to the beaches in DE. People go on Thursday night or Friday these days for the weekend.

I unloaded the car and unpacked. It feels good to be in the central air. The coolness is spread throughout the house and not just in the rooms with the air conditioner. I just relaxed in the afternoon and went onto facebook to see what was happening with my friends.

I am watching some Rockford Files. I am having trouble getting the second of a two parter. It starts with a commercial and then goes back to the selection screen. I'll try again.

Here is a nice view of my back yard in Chesapeake City. I have a back yard and two side yards: one on the east side and one on the west side.

I am feeling better after my problems with my tooth. It's amazing. I think the Oral Surgeon was with me for a total of two minutes and he got $325.00. He was with me for a few seconds when he gave me the novacaine and it took less than a minute to pull out the tooth. Of course he had to look at my x-ray and notes from the two previous dentists.

Today is just too hot to do anything. I walked Danny around 7am it was already in the 80's with high humidity. Heat warnings have been issue until 10pm tonight. I think the overnight low was 78. I usually shut the air off and opens the windows but not the past couple night. Rain was forcast for yesterday and it never came. It is forcast for today but when I looked at the map on weather.com, there was hardly a trace of rain.

The pastor is having a movie about Esther tonight but I called June and said I didn't want to go out in this heat. She agreed. She went for her walk at 7am, too. She's not going out for her afternoon walk.

Wednesday, August 4, 2010

I got the wisdom tooth removed this afternoon. My friend, June, took me. It didn't take very long and the tooth came right out. I was surprised. I had other molars pulled that were a struggle for the dentist. I don't seem to be in any pain but my face is swollen and I put an ice pack on it.

Danny was hiding under the computer desk. A thunderstorm is on the way. I wonder if he can hear it or sense it. The weather map showed it as being over the area of my mobile home. My nephew, Ed, turned on my water and watered my plants. Cheryl said she kills plants. Ed is a good gardener so I guess he is a good caretaker of the plants.

I went to the specialist today and he wasn't able to save my tooth. He started to do the root canal did not finish. I have to go to the oral surgeon tomorrow to have the wisdom tooth removed. Cheryl just had hers removed and it was painful. She wishes she had been knocked out. She was in pain for three days. I think I'll have myself knocked out for it. My friend, June, will take me. She is a wonderful lady. She is 85 years old and such a dear.

Cheryl and Ed will take care of my mail and water my plants in Maryland.

Monday, August 2, 2010

I'm not feeling too well today. I have a cavity that got under my crown on my wisdom tooth and it makes me feel like I have a sinus infection. I went to the dentist and he is sending me to a specialist to take off the crown and do the root canal if the tooth is able to be saved. My appointment with the specialist is for 2:00 tomorrow. I don't have dental insurance so I guess this will cost a small fortune.

Sunday, August 1, 2010

I went on the internet this morning and finished up some reservations for my trip to Michigan.

Church started late this morning. They have Communion the first of the month and it usually runs overtime. The pastor has a service in Millville, a nearby town and then comes to Vineland to our church. He was late getting here and then our service ran overtime. The service wasn't over until 1:30. I had to get home to take Danny out and then went down to the Mall and had lunch with my lady friends at the Red Lobster. From there, I drove down to the shopping center in Millville to the Target Store. Ted's niece has her registry at Target and some of the gift suggestions were not available online but at the local store. I found what she wanted and now have to ship it to her. I'll do that tomorrow.

When I got home, my neighbor, Alex came over with his girlfriend, Kathy. They are going away and wanted to see if I could take care of Kathy's cat. They were telling me about the cat and the trip they were planning when I realized it was the same time I would be on my trip. I told them about the place where I take Danny and that they have an air-conditioned cat house. So I got Alex Erica's number.

I wasn't hungry for supper as I had lunch so late. I ate a piece of cantaloupe and had some ice cream. I called Ted's parents and Ted's sister, Kathy and her husband, Ned. I also called my sister-in-law, Sylvia.

After I took Danny out this evening, I sat back and watched some television. I watched the end of Huckabee on Fox News and then watched Monk.
